Our Children

On Children
 by Kahlil Gibran
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.

You have to let them go sooner or later....

The youngest of my four children...Afiq wants to be an entrepreneur then where a better place than here to pursue his ambition...Insha Allah.

Ain at 6 or 7 months already in love with books
She wants to write a book

Ain's alma mater

No more sound of their voices laughing or bickering with each other at home since early September 2013.  No rocket scientists they will be but it will suffice for Abah and Mama seeing all our four children has Alhamdulillah passed their first hurdle in life with more higher hurdles to jump or cross with lots of our prayers to a successful and rewarding life.

Dear IM,
Thank you and the same can be said to you. None of my children go to boarding schools and so the bond between us is strong unlike some stories I hear of some children (smart kids of course) not getting along with their parents when at the tender age of 12 or 13 they have to be independent at such an early age but that is another story. I can't help wondering how they cope especially the youngest boy who knows only comfort at home now have to do all the menial tasks himself. Of course it will take some time for all this to sink in for me and thanks to digital technology today we can communicate with each other everyday via WeChat and such.

You are very lucky indeed, young lady. Thirty years ago Makcik and I were in your current position - lonely but grateful to Him. Believe me you have not lost them. The bond of live will get stronger, insyaAllah.

Sorry, the word should be 'love' not 'live'

All praises to Allah SWT for keeping us on the right path.

Hello Nanisda, interesting post.
Allow me to add, one good mother is worth a hundred teachers.
A man may love his sweetheart the most, his wife the best....but his mom...the longest.
Have a fun sunday and simpan satu lagu dalam hati.
Lee.
